The man who inspired my focus and passion

Today was a great day. I finally met the man who I credit with inspiring my life's focus and passion at the Biodiversity Days events at Duke University. As a young undergrad I was struggling to find my purpose, taking class after class, getting slowly closer to the day of graduation without any real direction. Then one day at the San Francisco State University Bookstore I noticed, "The Future of Life", by E.O. Wilson. I planned to buy the book at the end of the semester as a type of incentive for all my hard work. Little did I know, this book would change my life!

Long story short, I followed my new-found passion for conservation into a graduate degree and jobs that have taken me all over Latin America. As I continue my current work with the Organization for Tropical Studies, it is only fitting that Dr. Wilson was one of the co-founders of this organization. I thanked E.O. Wilson for inspiring me and he told me that stories like mine motivate him to do the work that he does.
