In-Country Travel information
You should plan to arrive at San José Airport (SJO) on March 12, overnighting in San José, if you wish to participate in the optional field excursion on Wednesday morning. If you will not participate in the field excursion, please arrive no later than 10am (preferably earlier) at San José Airport (SJO) on March 13.

OTS will coordinate your transportation to/from the San José airport. At the airport, OTS staff will have a representative waiting just past the immigration point at the end of the ramp, holding a visible placard with the OTS logo. The representative will not be able to provide assistance with your luggage inside the airport, as you are the only person permitted to do so. Once you have exited the airport, our driver will gladly assist you with your luggage and transportation to the hotel (on March 12) or OTS' Costa Rica Headquarters in San José (on March 13).

For the return trip to San José, buses will leave Las Cruces in the morning of March 16 (by 8am local time).

Given that there is road construction underway in Alajuela during this time, we cannot guarantee arrival time in San José on Saturday. We recommend you book your return flight on Sunday, March 17. However, if you must fly on Saturday, please book your flight as late in the evening as possible. Without adding in potential delays for construction, the trip from Las Cruces to San José would normally take at least 6 hours, and you should allow 3 hours for check-in and airport security. Again, We strongly recommend overnighting in San José on Saturday, March 16, and scheduling your departure flight on Sunday, March 17.

We will make all hotel reservations on your behalf if you fill out the hotel request in the appropriate section that follows.

There will be no extra fee for in-country ground transportation assuming that your travel fits the prearranged schedule of the OTS buses outlined above. There may be a fee for special requests which deviate from the schedule.
