If you have recently visited La Selva, you may have noticed that the peccaries are missing.
We have no data to determine the cause of the dead and dying peccaries found on the property.
OTS, in active collaboration with Dr. Luis Diego Alfaro of the veterinary sciences faculty at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (UNA), is working to understand the problem. To conduct a population survey, we need to identify $1500 for station fees and in-country travel for a master’s student to collect the data necessary to help us understand what may be happening.
