The NSF LSAMP REU program (La Selva and Las Cruces) is open to adult undergraduate students who are (1) U.S. citizens or permanent residents, (2) members of underrepresented minority groups in the sciences (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders), and (3) enrolled in a NSF LSAMP-affiliated institution. Graduating seniors (May or August 2021) are not eligible. Please verify with your institution if they are a member of an alliance. You can review a partial list of LSAMP alliances here. The home mentor is a person in your institution that knows you well and can help you with preparation (academic, logistical such as passport application, etc.), provide support upon your return to the home campus, and can facilitate a successful incorporation of the research experience into your academic career.
