OTS welcomes the 2024 African Ecology and Conservation cohort

We are very excited to welcome our largest cohort of students to our semester African Ecology and Conservation semester program since 2017!  Students arrived January 20, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa. They will spend their first day learning about the recent history of South Africa at Freedom Park before being whisked away to Pullen Farm, situated just outside Nelspruit. At Pullen, students will get to stretch their legs and adjust to their new surroundings while learning more about birds, plants, stats, and archaeology. Our week will end with a short drive to Kruger National Park (their home base for the next 100 days) and our first epic game drive of the semester drive will commence!

Relaunch of the Semester Program in Costa Rica

We are also very excited to announced the relaunch of our Tropical Biology on a Changing Planet semester program, starting Fall 2024! As part of this program, students will take four interconnected courses that introduce them to biomes across Costa Rica. They will become versed in the skills and knowledge necessary to address contemporary issues in conservation and ecology. Students will focus on tropical ecology, environmental preservation, research skills, and Spanish in OTS’ dynamic research stations – La Selva, Palo Verde, and Las Cruces – as well as other forest and coastal sites. We are very happy to be able to offer a semester program once again in Costa Rica.

Applications for late 2024 are now open

Applications are now open for both our Fall 2024 Semester Programs, African Ecology and Conservation in South Africa and Tropical Biology on a Changing Planet in Costa Rica.
