We have all been impacted by the current pandemic in many different ways. The isolation, whether due to a government-ordered lockdown or due to self-quarantine as a personal or family decision, is taking a toll on many of us. Hours in front of the screen participating in virtual meetings, taking classes, or teaching from home can be difficult. At OTS, we welcome anyone who wants to call our research stations their temporary home, and long-term visitors may bring their social bubbles along with them!
At our research stations, long-term visitors will have access to safe workspace areas, internet access, food service, and hectares of tropical forest as their backyard for a well-deserved break from screen time. We have taken all the necessary health safety measures for the protection of our visitors and staff. Social distancing and the wearing of face coverings are enforced in all common areas. Our dining halls are well ventilated, and our buffet-style service has been replaced with grab-and-go prepared meals. Visitors can enjoy their meals in our dining area or they can take meals to their room(s). For the most up-to-date information about Covid-19 and OTS’ response plan, please click here.
We are currently offering low rates for long-term stays (30 days or more) by researchers, professors, or graduate students in single and double occupancy rooms. Some of our rooms are equipped with a stove and refrigerator, so visitors may prepare their own meals, if preferred.
